Beyond
working in one of the Clubhouse Units, members can choose
to work in paying jobs in the community. The Transitional
Employment (TE) program provides members with part-time,
entry-level positions that last from six to nine months
in ordinary work environments.
There are a wide range of positions available in various locations
in New York City that make TE appealing and accessible for
all members.
The only requirement is a desire to work. In a TE position,
members can gain experience, build confidence and test their
skills and interest in a supported work environment.
Currently 15 members are working in TE positions with 8 different
employers.
Venture House also assists members who seek competitive employment.
Presently, 16 are working independently with support from
the clubhouse community.
